Course: Chicken & Turkey External Anatomy & Breeds

In this unit, kids will gain a deeper understanding of the physical traits of chickens and turkeys, exploring their external anatomy and be able to identify different chicken and turkey breeds. Whether they are new to poultry or looking to expand their knowledge as a young agriculturists, this unit will provide them with valuable insights that apply to poultry practices and breed selection.

What They’ll Learn in This Unit

They will explore seven chapters, each focusing on key aspects of poultry anatomy and breed identification:

Chapter Breakdown:

• Chapter 1: Chicken External Anatomy – Learn about the key features of a chicken’s body, their function and how they help identify different chicken breeds.

• Chapter 2: Turkey External Anatomy – Understand the anatomy of turkeys, their function and how their features are used to differentiate breeds.

• Chapter 3: Chicken Breeds – Get familiar with various chicken breeds and their roles on the farm.

• Chapter 4: Turkey Breeds – Explore the characteristics and uses of different turkey breeds.

• Chapter 5: Chicken Breed Origins – Discover where chicken breeds come from and how they evolved.

• Chapter 6: Turkey Breed Origins – Learn about the origins of popular turkey breeds and their spread across the world.

• Chapter 7: Chicken and Turkey: “What Breed Am I?” – Test your knowledge by matching chicken and turkey breeds to clues based on their anatomy and characteristics.
